Challenge 2 - Colour Combo

Firstly THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH for all the positive comments we've had since we started the challenge and for all your entries - 20 is not at all a bad number for the first challenge - let's see if we can beat it this time shall we?   But before we give you the deets on that one, we need to award badges (and this time out prizes) to our first ever winners......

The overall winner and No1 Fan this time was Miriam Pranter with this interactive rocket card - we loved how the shape in the sketch was echoed by the route the rocket takes and the inked background is superb!  Congrats on being our first ever winner Miriam.

Please take your winners badge for your blog and drop me an email at "craftilicious at rocketmail dot com"  and I'll send you the code you need to access your £20 voucher at Waltzingmouse Stamps

It was very tough to choose our runners up - you all made some fabulous cards based on our sketch - but after much deliberation our top 3 for this challenge (in numerical order of entry) are :

Pauline - we really loved the creative use of feathers on this CAS design to form the shape in the sketch.

Kim - well who doesn't love a jar of eyeballs?  Really creative use of the stamps here and it really caught our eye lol ;-)

Ang - we really loved the layered texture and subtle background colours with the bold pop of the gorgeous focal flowers.

Again - please take your badge for your blog - as well as showing off how great you are it helps spread the word about the challenge (particuarly if you link it up to the challenge site for which we'd be very grateful)

Challenge No 2

We're feeling hot, hot, hot today at Waltzingmouse Fanatics and have this super colour combo as our challenge this fortnight which we think is perfect as the seasons change and Autumn closes in.  You don't have to use all 6 colours in your project but we do ask that you choose at least 3 so we can see that the challenge inspired your project.

You can take these colours forward into any kind of project you like as long as you use a Waltzingmouse stamp or digi-file somewhere so let's see how creative you can be!

Here's a little inspiration from the two of us to get the creative juices flowing.....

Now it's over to you - you have until 5pm GMT on Thursday 3rd October to play along so hopefully plenty of time to get your mojo pumping!   We'll reveal the winners along with the new challenge at 8am on Saturday 5th October.

Challenge 1 - Sketch

For our first challenge we thought we start easily and have a friendly little sketch for you all to play along with.  We were both regular players of the weekly Waltzingmouse Sketch challenges as I'm sure many of you were too so this is our little nod to the past as we start our new challenge.

You can interpret the sketch in any way you like - a card, a scrapbook or journal page or whatever takes your fancy - you can go CAS, shabby-chic, cute and fun or whatever style suits your crafting.  If you want to rotate the sketch that's fine too - as long as we can see the basis of the sketch in the final projects anything goes!   All you have to do is include at least one image or sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps - that's our only rule - we're fans of Waltzingmouse and our challenge is all about their stamps.

And, if the fact that it's our first ever challenge wasn't reason enough for you to play along - Claire (owner of Waltzingmouse Stamps) has kindly offered us a prize code for our winner - we told you she was lovely ;-)   So if you play along in this challenge you get the chance to add to your stash for free as we have a code that will get you £20 worth of goodies from the store!

Here's our DT inspiration to get you started:

Deborah:

For my first project I went with a floral theme using the new Simple Sprig mini stamp set and a sentiment from Big Day Today

For my second I went for a more masculine theme with my favourite set - Free Spirit Boy to create a background along with elements from  North Shore, Sewing Box Hugs and the new Tying the Knot set

Tara:

For my first DT project there was only one way to go - Way Out West!  The focal element is from Sheriff and all done in kraft to keep it masculine.

For my second card I went more feminine and used the new Funky Flowers set as my focal element and a couple of sentiments from Say It Loud to create my background panels.

For more details of what we did - pop on over to our personal blogs and say hello :-)

Now it's over to you - you have until 5pm GMT on Thursday 19th September to play along so hopefully plenty of time to get your stash out and get creative.  We'll reveal the winners along with the new challenge at 8am on Saturday 21st September.

Waltzingmouse Fanatics Challenge starts in just 7 short days.....

So, spread the word and help us get it off to a fabulously fanatical start!

We're beginning with a challenge you could all well be familiar with - but that's the only hint I'm giving you until next week when the fun kicks off.

Claire has generously given us a store code so our first winner will get £20 of credit to go shopping with which can only be good news right?

See you at 8am on the 7th!

Meet the Fanatics DT

We're starting small with our Design Team - just the two founders whilst we build up the challenge and get all you fanatics joining us.  Once we're established we'll be looking for regular players to join us so keep an eye out for a DT call in the future....

In the meantime we thought we should introduce ourselves (and our Waltzingmouse stash!) and tell you all a little about us in case you haven't met us in blogland yet:

I've been a crafter all my life really - never more pleased with a present than if it was new pens and paper!  I've turned my hand to jewellery making, pottery, cross-stitch, patchwork, millinery, quilling, felting - you name it - I've pretty much got the kit for it somewhere in the attic......   However, in 2009 I discovered QVC's crafting hours and bought a card making kit as I liked to make cards as a child and I made my first adult card and I was hooked!   When I discovered blogging and card making challenges in 2010 I found an outlet for my creativity and think I have finally found my forever hobby ;-)

I found Waltzingmouse Stamps in 2010 when looking for stamps to match the nestabilities I'd bought at my first ever craft show and I bought Rescue Remedies, Vintage Ornaments and Holiday Labels and totally fell in love with all of Claire's fabulous stamps and I've been adding to my collection with every release since!  (Just please don't ask me to pick a favourite - it's just too hard!)

When Deborah and I met this summer for the first time in person, we naturally chatted about our shared love of Waltzingmouse and about how much we missed the weekly challenge and decided that we should have our own "fans" challenge - so after a few emails and getting Claire's agreement to go ahead - here we are :-)

I can't wait to get the challenge going and see the shared love of Waltzingmouse from all the other fans out there!

Deborah - from Deborah's Gems

I’ve been crafting in some form since I was child - starting with mini books and cards to family.  Then as I got older moving to embroidery, counted cross-stitching; I even tried my hand at crochet and knitting - not good!!  I’ve always taken photos and made scrapbooks to keep for memories, but they aren’t like the wonderful albums you can make now!!  I got hooked into card making after getting a handmade Christmas card; I started in a small way and now have a whole room for my crafting goodies.

I first came across Claire Brennan’s stamps in about mid 2010 (just before I started my blog) and I fell in love with her style and designs.  A quick review of my galleries over the last few years reveal just how often I use Waltzingmouse Stamps!!!  While on holiday in the UK in July, I met up with Tara and we chatted out about love of WMS, so you can imagine just how thrilled I was to get an email inviting me to join her on a new challenge for all Waltzingmouse Fans!

I think my all time favourite set is Free Spirit Boy - you can see the ink stains in the photo!!!  But it’s a hard choice.  Have fun with the challenge!

So that's us - we're really looking forward to getting started and meeting all of you too!    We'll be back with a reminder or two throughout August, but in the meantime tell all your Waltzingmouse buddies to check us out and don't forget to follow us so you don't miss our first challenge on the 7th September......
